NNA TNT in WPG + WD RIP
I've just learned that it's been 2 years to the day that singer songwriter Willie Dunn passed away. It was a massive privilege to have met him and to help share his music through the Native North America (Vol. 1) compilation on Light In The Attic Records. Tonight, we'll be honouring Willie's legacy w/ a screening of his National Film Board of Canada produced The Other Side of the Ledger: An Indian View of the Hudson's Bay Company (1972, co-directed by Martin Defalco). Joining us for the evening will be Shingoose (Curtis Jonnie) and David McLeod from NCI FM - The Spirit of Manitoba for a special Q&A. We will also be screening Duke Redbird's The Paradox of Norval Morrisseau (co-directed by Henning Jacobsen and featuring Shingoose). Please join us at Winnipeg's Plug In Institute of Contemporary Art for an celebration of music, art, film, discussion, and culture... PEACE

Peg poem
After the moment has passed, I think of other concrete streets, ones with less dust.
Still, as I walk alone in the afternoon sun, I feel a special kind of warmth that I've never experienced anyplace else.
Peg is short for Winnipeg. It's also a song by Becker and Fagen. Jazz-rock pop sampled into rap. In 2015, is it still possible for OG bars to morph into something so fresh?
And while there's no Steely Dan to be heard, I can't stop thinking about the dirty work ahead.
What would happen to me if I lived in Peg?
After years of trying my best, would I stand tall like that other Peg tune or would I be left alone to eat my shoe?
Born to the east, how long will I pray to the west?
Only the Jga Jga knows and the Jga Jga is not speaking.
Until the sun goes down.
Stop and listen friends, with your ears to the ground.
Or simply look a-r-o-u-n-d.

hanging w/ ronnie & natalie
recently spent some time in winnipeg, manitoba, doing research for a couple of upcoming LITA projects. through some good fate and fortune, met w/ the multi-talented ronnie and natalie pollock (capitol recording artists, private press pioneers, and oddball cable TV gurus!@#$%!!!). they not only shared some of their incredible cultural history, but also asked me to do a youtube drop (an honour)!@#$%!!! definitely seek out the pollock's music and TV work. well worth the effort...
